A group of 20 Trainees was selected from Czech universities. The security organizations and
the academic communities at Charles University and the University of Economics in
Prague helped add to the pool of candidates. These Trainees participate in 4 months of
on-site visits to various military and political offices. The Trainees participate in
lectures and interviews with representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, the Office of the President, the Prague Embassy Community, the Czech
Military and security-related NGO community. The Trainees are required to prepare
reports and papers based on the results of their visits and interviews. In addition to
participating in lectures with officials from NATO and other organizations (brought to
Prague to participate in various roundtables and discussions) the program also
includes monthly group workshops on the structure and responsibilities of NATO organized
by the Center for Democracy and Free Enterprise.
