Startegy for project development

Year one May 2000-May 2001

Goal: To locate partner organizations in 40 cities around the Czech Republic willing to host and develop TNTY and to host a meeting in each city in the first year of project operation.

Method: Contacting large NGOs in Prague and working with them to locate partners in 40 cities nation-wide; Cultivating contacts with small NGOs around the country in order to evaluate the capacity and interest; Working with Memebers of Parliament and regional politicians to introduce the project; hosting 31 meetings in cities around the Czech Republic.

Results: Each Monday in year one TNTY was able to host one meeting with a local partner in a different city around the Czech Republic. These meetings acted to introduce the local partner to the TNTY format. The local partner had the oppourtuntiy to see all aspects of TNTY before agreeing to join the project.

Year two June 2001-June 2002

Goal: To turn organization of meetings over to local partners; To encourage local partners to adapt the meeting structure to the local community; To encourage local partners to look for ways to continue the project after the 2002 elections.

Method: The project has been split into 2 phases. The first phase (June 2001-December 2001) will focus on 15 of the most successful partner organizations. These organizations will be asked to host 2 meetings each in the period before December 2001. The goal is to make these organizations independednt of the project so that TNTY staff can focus on the remaining 25 organizations in the period before the 2002 elections. TNTY plans 2 training sessions to take place in this year in order to give the partners (and project moderators) more information about the project and help develop moderation skills.

Results: In phase 1 TNTY will host 30 meetings. In phase 2 TNTY will host an additional 80 meetings in cities all around the country.
