 The Parliamentary Internship Program

For the past 5 years, CDFE has organized the Parliamentary Internship Program (PIP). This program selects 15-20 Czech University students to serve as interns in the Czech Parliament. These interns act as research aids and assistants to Members of Parliament and are exposed to the inner workings of the Czech political system.

Interns serve in both the Lower Chamber and the Senate along side Czech lawmakers and staff. Each intern is in his/ her final year of study at a Czech university, has an excellent academic record, takes part in extensive extracurricular activities and speaks several European languages. The program is an excellent launching board into a career in the civil service as well as in the world of international business.

Project goal: The Next Generation

The PIP aims to help create a new generation of Czech leaders working in both civil service and the business community. The project takes talented university students and gives them hands on experience in the workings of both the Czech Parliament and the Prague business community. These interns are given the opportunity to observe both the public and private sector. The program focuses on creating a responsible group of young people enlightened through concrete experience and dedicated to improving the Czech Republic.

Project Goal: Assisting the work of the Parliament

The Czech Parliament research budget is critically under funded. It is impossible for Members of Parliament to devote the time needed to each issue presented in Parliament. Each issue discussed in parliament must be researched, many times in more than 1 language, and analyzed if wise decisions are to be made. The PIP aims to assist the Parliament in the research and analysis of new topics and laws in order to provide the Czech Republic with the best legislation possible . PIP interns are an excellent way to provide Czech legislators with qualified and insightful assistants.

Project Goal: Supporting a Healthy Business Environment in the Czech Republic

Young Czechs have little knowledge of the workings of the public sector. The PIP gives Czechs looking to go into international business the opportunity to understand the public sector and its interactions with the private sector. This experience creates young Czech business people with a better understanding of the business environment and the ability to navigate the two worlds with ease.
