Book Distribution Program

CDFE recognized that one of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs, students, academics and professionals after 1989 was gaining access to western books, publications, studies and other research materials. For this reason, CDFE has made it a priority to collect scholastic literature in the United States and make it available in the Czech Republic.

A wide range of resource materials has been distributed, covering everything from economic and legal regorm to education and political science.

Closely coordinated with the effort is the Sabre Foundation Book Distribution Program. This ongoing project provides books donated by the Sabre Foundation - a US based public charity devoted to the philosophy and practice of free institutios. The Sabre Foundation has distributed books since 1986 to more than 15 countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former USSR. CDFE has been its Czech coordinator for this program since 1991. In the last six years, more than 200,000 American books have been distributed, covering a wide range of subjects from arts and literature to economics, reference and technology. CDFE makes these materials available to Czech academic institutions, libraries, and the general public. A small handling fee is charged for the distribution to help cover the costs of transport and storage space.
